FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I place my order?
Milk and Honey Bakery is a home cake studio (one woman show!). In order to produce the best quality wedding and celebration cakes we limit the quantity of cakes that we produce each week. The earlier you contact us the better as some dates fill quickly. We require at least two weeks notice for all celebration cakes, and at least one month for wedding cakes.
Does Milk and Honey require a deposit for custom orders?
To hold your date, we require a 50% non-refundable retainer due upon booking. The remaining 50% is due two weeks before your event. For small orders, the entire amount is due at time of booking with 50% being non-refundable.
How much cake do I need?
We typically suggest ordering enough servings for 60-70% of your guests, as not everyone will get a piece of cake. If you're going with cupcakes, mini tarts or other small treats, we suggest having enough to serve 100% of your guests, as more people are inclined to grab one of each flavor or type of dessert.
Does Milk and Honey offer delivery?
We deliver to the greater Orlando area and surrounding Central Florida area. We offer free delivery within a 15 mile radius from our location in Clermont, FL. A delivery fee of $1.00/mile will be charged after the first 15 miles.
How do I cut my cake?
Cakes larger than 6" are usually cut in a grid fashion as opposed to a pie shaped slice. All Milk and Honey Cakes come with a care card and cutting guide to help you get the right amount of servings out of your cake.
How do I store my cake?
Your cake can sit out for a full day on the counter, any longer and we recommend storing in the fridge, where it can be stored for up to four days. If you wish to save your cake for a later date you can store it in the freezer. Freeze for an hour uncovered. Remove when the buttercream is solid and wrap in plastic wrap two or three times, place in a tupperware container and back in the freezer.
Does Milk and Honey offer Anniversary cakes?
All Milk and Honey wedding clients have the opportunity to pick up a complimentary 4" anniversary cake (same flavor as wedding cake) in their wedding month. Must order with two weeks notice.
What happens if I have to cancel my order?
Once the 50% retainer is made, the retainer is non-refundable. If the event is cancelled, the retainer can be turned into a credit for another order. You must let us know you wish to save the retainer as a credit at time of cancellation. You must place another order within 3 months of the cancellation date or your retainer is forfeit.
Orders cancelled more than 7 days before are given a 50% refund, minus any work already done (sugar flowers, specialty toppers), or you may change the date of your order, pending availability. Any order cancelled the week-of will receive no refund.
